For as long as I can remember, I’ve been capturing my life with a camera or by writing it down in my journal. I really want to be able to look back in a few years and know what I did or how I felt during a certain time. For a few years now, I’ve also wanted to start a travel journal, where I can be creative and combine maps, tickets, drawings and text into one page. Last month, I finally made my first entry, about my trip to Slovenia I did a while back.
It’s been a long time since my last blogpost! I stayed in Peru for about one month and I have to say: it’s impressive. From mountains to desert, from 0 m above sea level to 5200 m, from heat to cold. Peru seemed like the perfect country to end my 4,5 month trip through Latin America!
Back in January 2020, I had booked a tour to Ecuador, which obviously didn’t happen. So after 3,5 years, it was finally time to explore this country. As it’s a relatively small country and my time was limited, we didn’t stay that long. However, I really enjoyed my time here!
A lot of changes happened since Panama. I’m in South America right now, I cut my hair short (which I don’t regret, but I can’t wait for it to grow back as it doesn’t feel like me) and from now on I will be traveling together with my friend Joyce. Instead of going through everything I’ve seen in Colombia, I thought I would share my 6 favorite moments from Colombia and also mention 6 things I’m missing right now (apart from friends and family, which is obvious).
It seems like I went to Panama a long time ago already, as I’m in a completely different setting right now. But thinking back, I had such a great time. A time of resting and taking the time to just be still and do nothing. But also a bit of exploring and seeing Panama’s beautiful nature.
Costa Rica … It’s a country a lot of backpackers were talking about. Mainly they said 2 things: it’s very beautiful, but also the most expensive. So I had to find out what it was all about :)
‘You can’t bring cameras or drones into the country’. That’s what my driver told me on our way to León, Nicaragua. It was my second day of traveling with a shuttle to go to Nicaragua (Copán to El Tunco on day 1, El Tunco to León on day 2). That was the first time he mentioned this and the first time I had heard about this.
After Guatemala, it was time for me to make my way through El Salvador and Honduras. I think it’s interesting to see how these countries are completely different from each other.
It’s been a long time since my last blogpost and so much has happened since. I spent 2 weeks in total in Guatemala and I can easily say that it’s in my top 3 of countries I’ve been to. Right now, I’m in Copán, Honduras, and I finally found some time to write a new blogpost. Let me catch you up with everything that’s happened in Guatemala since Flores :)
In 2015, I went to Granada for 6 months to do my Erasmus and study at Universidad de Granada. To date, this still is one of the best years of my life. Living abroad was always a dream of mine, so to actually get to live in Spain, was the best thing that could possibly happen back then. This January, after 8 years, it was finally time to go back: some days of remembering old and discovering new. Going back, I realized why this was one of the most transformative years of my life and I realized I should bring back more magic into my life.
